“DO YOU HAVE THE TIME?”
We are so fascinated with time. We want to stay on top of it. Why? Maybe it’s because we have such a limited amount of it. “A man that is born of a woman is of a few days…” (Job 14:1) It is God’s design for man’s days to be limited due to his inherited sinful nature. Although the limitation of man’s existence on earth was not God’s original desire, we all have been affected by one man’s disobedience. Each one of us have a passed down human (fleshly) nature that naturally rebels against God’s authority because, apart from the Holy Spirit, it lacks the discipline and fortitude to, first of all, acknowledge the presence of God and secondly, to submit to HIS power (control) via the Word. The Word explains, “letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit (Holy Spirit) control your mind leads to life and peace. “7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.” (Rom 8:6-8) Naturally, man desires to satisfy his own interest. However, when spiritually driven, we desire to satisfy God’s interests. “It is God working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” (Phil 2:13) Every moment of our lives should be valued. So, what am I doing with my time? In order not to waste time, we are encouraged to ask the Lord to teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom. What time/season is it? “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven: A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot that which is planted, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build up, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate…”(Eccl. 3:1-8) Yes, there is a time for everything. Let’s make it count. Ask yourselves, “Do I have the time?” “Is it wasted time?” One guarantee way not to waste time is found in 1 Corin.15:58: “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
